The New York, N.Y., Metropolitan Transportation Authority accepted a bus placard ad campaign from Akademiks clothing company promoting reading. Well, that’s what they thought the slogan “Read Books, Get Brain” meant. To high-school-aged kids, “get brain” is slang for oral sex, and MTA officials were steamed when they were clued in. “I don’t think any kid is going to say, ‘If I read “A Tale of Two Cities” I’m going to get sex’,” says the ad’s designer. “They aren’t stupid.” But the ads are being pulled from buses. “It’s sad that a company and its advertising agency would appear to be promoting a good cause while instead using vulgar street phrases to demean women,” said an MTA spokesman. (New York Daily News) ...If MTA thinks only men can get oral sex they really are clueless.
