Celebrating the Life of Donald Richard Wiley

November 11, 1946 - January 26, 2005

On Wednesday, January 26, 2005, the Lord called home a wonderful family man, Donald (Don) Richard Wiley, 58, of Simi Valley, California.

Don was born on November 11, 1946 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Richard and Dorothy Wiley. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1964 and attended Iowa State University. He served his country in the Army from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War.

Don was only months away from retirement with First Data Corporation. He had worked there for over thirty years, most recently as a Technical Director. He appreciated technology and the rewards it brought to watching sports or movies from home and photographing precious family memories.

Don's favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends - and if that time should include sports, all the better. Some of his more recent favorites were golf with family, friends, and grandson Kaleb, attending his granddaughter Kenzie's dance recital, and watching "the lemon toss": his grandsons played in his back yard. He was a dedicated fan of the L.A. Lakers, Chicago Bears, UCLA Collegiate Football, and the Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by his wife, Lien; six children: Angie Voydik and husband David of Portland, Oregon; Charlien Church and husband Marty of Los Angeles; Sadie Greiner and husband Mark of Iowa City, Iowa; Bryan Kalbfus and wife Erika of Sacramento; Melanie Wiley of Chicago, Illinois; and Amanda Wiley of Des Moines, Iowa. Don is also survived by five grandchildren: Kaleb Greiner, Mackenzie Greiner, Kolby Greiner, Daniel Voydik, and Cameron Church; his mother Dorothy Wiley of The Dalles, Oregon; a sister, Carol Wiley, of The Calles, Oregon; a brother Randy Wiley and his wife Connie, of San Diego, California. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Wiley.

Don's remains were cremated for final disposition at a later time.

The family suggests that memorial gifts might be made in memory of Don to The United Methodist Church, 2394 Erringer Road, Simi Valley, CA 93065.
